And so it happened. The J Band was the de facto house band. Alexander handled all the extra details and promotional work involved in sustaining and maintaining the open jam "talent review.' Virtually everyone who wanted to was heard. Singer Rhonda Robinson arranged to make an appearance. She wanted to do FINE by The Sundays, and These Are Days, my Natalie Merchant. Augie called on Daneil Joseph and Sly to get together for a special rehearsal to learn these two tunes to be proformed following week. Rhonda did not attend the rehearsals. She would hear their rendition as be expected to sing. The crowd plainly loved it. It was a perfect musical fit. Augie hadn't missed this and the possibilities it involved, which were many and attainable. |
